Are exit doors provided with double cylinder key locking devices?
Is the key left on the interior side of the locking device when the person is at home
or asleep?
Are bars and other security devices placed upon windows that are not operable from
the inside?
Are the windows operational where they could be used for emergency egress?
In homes with windows in excess of 44” off the floor, are steps or a window seat
provided so that a small child could get out of the window?
Are escape ladders provided in sleeping rooms on the second floor?
In newer homes with an emergency egress window in the basement, is a ladder
provided in the window well to allow persons to escape to grade level?
Is the door between the garage and the residence portion of the house a 1-5/8” solid
core door?
Is it provided with a closer?
Does the door close and latch?
Are attic covers in place?

Is storage placed under the stairways and if so, is the back of the stairway protected
with sheetrock?
