Nashville Numbers Chart
OK, for those of you that have seen my charts before, you know that
I always include a Nashville Numbers chart.
This is because MOST
(not all) professional country musicians that are worth their salt
speak the number system for chord progressions.
Here's a quick and
basic tutorial on Nashville Numbers:
In the key of D, the following numbers are the following chords:
1 = D
4 = G
5 = A
6- = Bm
#5dim7 = A#dim7
4/5 = G/A
4/6 = G/B
4{6} = G6
(sorry...
this is not typical charting style, but there is no
easy way to signify this one in plain ASCII text)
You get the idea.
Any chords in parenthesis signify a split-bar...
in other words, (4
5) would mean the first half of the measure is a G
chord, and the second half of the measure is an A chord.
