Kindergarten Reading Log

Please record the date, the title of the book, the number of pages read, and have

your parent write his/her initials. Please encourage your child to write the title of the book, and to follow along by

looking, thinking, and reading. As you read your book, please practice the concepts of print and record which

number you practice on the recording sheet. Please try to read at least 1 book a night to help us reach our

school-wide goal of reading 23,000 books by June 1.

How to be a good reader:

1)  Look at the cover and think what the book might be about before reading.

2)  Point to each word as you read.

3)  Match the words to the pictures (look at the pictures to know the words).

4) Sound like the characters.

5) When retelling the story, use connecting words (first, then, next, last, now, etc).
