1. Read: Seedfolks
by Paul Fleishman
2. Complete the Character Guide on your own paper, printed or typed.
3. Choose one of the following activities based on the IB Learner Profile:
a. Write a 5 – 7 paragraph essay identifying 3 of the Learner Profiles
your selected character exhibits. Make sure you fully explain the
profile and how your character fits that trait. Include specific
examples from the book. This must be typed, double-spaced and
typed (size 12 Times New Roman or Arial font). FCAT Writes Rubric
will be used to grade the essay.
b. A poster identifying three of the Learner Profiles your selected
character exhibits. Poster must include the following:
i. Name of the character
ii. Graphic representation (drawing or photo) of what you think
the character looks like.
iii. The 3 Learner Profiles you have selected clearly identified and
explained.
iv. Explanation of how the character fits those traits. Include
specific examples from the book to support your choices.
v. Color! Creativity! Neatness!

What is his/her story? What conflict, problem, or loss does he or she face? How
does his/her interaction with the garden help?
What is his/her closest connection to farming?
What is the character’s role in the garden? (founder, participant, observer,
problem-solver)
What do you learn about the community and the garden through your character?
What about your character’s “voice”? Can you hear him/her speaking? Does
he/she have an accent? Describe the voice of your character as you hear it.
What do you predict will happen next in this character’s life?
