Design a board game. Th e theme of the game should be related
to probability. Create cards that players will draw from to move
around the board. Each card will have a probability to fi nd. Th e player
will then move a certain number of squares that you determine based
on whether the probability is impossible, unlikely, likely or certain.
Design the game board as well as the cards. Th e cards should be made on thicker paper, such as card
stock or index cards. Include directions about how to play the game.

Finding the probability of compound (or multiple) events involves
multiplication of the single event probabilities. In this activity, you will
work with independent events. Events are independent if the outcome of one
event does not aff ect the outcome of another event. For example, the outcome
when you fl ip a coin does not aff ect the outcome of a second fl ip of the same coin.
To fi nd the probability of a compound event, fi nd the probability of each event
occurring. Th en multiply the probabilities. For example, the probability of fl ipping a coin and landing
on heads twice is shown below.
P(head, then head) = 1 _
∙ 1 _
= 1 _
