What are the three energy contributions that must be considered when describing a helium atom?
1.
2.
3.
7.9 Notes
Atoms with more than one electron.
3 energy contributions that must be considered of the Helium atom.
1. the kinetic energy of the electron as they move around the nucleus.
2. the potentials energy of attraction between the nucleus and electrons
3. the potential energy of repulsion between the electrons.
The repulsion of the electrons cause more of an uncertainly in the pathway and they cannot be calculated exactly. This
is called the electron correlation problem.
