Letter to Family

Dear Family,

I would like you to have your child bring in a group of small objects to represent

the number of people in your family. For example, if there are five people in

your family, you might have your child bring in five paper clips. Work with your

child to decide how many paper clips to bring in. You may want to suggest that

one paper clip will represent a sibling, another paper clip will represent a par-

ent, and so on. Don't forget to put paper clips in for you and your child. Please

put the small objects in an envelope with your child's name on it. We will use

the envelopes with the objects as the children begin learning their numbers.
