Greetings, Family!

Energy, particularly electricity, is a vital part of our everyday life. In our

next unit, “Electricity,“ our science class will be studying electricity and

how it ﬂows in circuits. We will explore how electricity is changed into

other forms of energy, such as light, heat, and motion. Students will

also learn about how magnetism and electricity are related and how

magnets are used in motors, generators, doorbells, and other devices.

You can make science come alive for your child in and around your

home. What devices in your home use electricity to operate? Where

does this electricity come from (batteries, outlets)? What form or

forms of energy is the electricity changed into (light, sound, motion)?

You can also have your child look in magazines or newspapers, and

watch the news, for stories about electricity and other forms of energy

and how they are used.

For the hands-on activities in this module, we are collecting the
