PHOTOGRAPHY 101:
APERTURE AND SHUTTER SPEED SETTINGS
APERTURE:
A lens aperture is the opening that controls how much light passes through.
A camera is equipped with a range of openings referred to as F-stops. The larger the
F-stop, the smaller the opening, resulting in less light passing through.
SHUTTER:
A camera’s shutter controls how long light is allowed to hit the film. Shutter
speed refers to the length of time the shutter remains open to expose the film to light.
