APPLICATION & INSTRUCTIONS FOR A

DOG LICENSE

CODE-701

The Director of the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, pursuant to the authority set forth in

section 2 of D.C. Law 3-30, the Animal Control Act of 1979, hereby gives notice by the Council of the District

of Columbia, that this act may be cited as the Animal Control Amendment Act of 1992.

Section 5(e) D.C. Code 6-1004(e) is to read as follows:

Except as provided in subsection (f) of this section, the annual license fee for a dog is as follows:

1. No fee for a dog trained to aid the auto-handicapped or blind and actually used for that purpose.

2. $10.00 for a male dog certified by a licensed veterinarian as either neutered or incapable of enduring

neutering

3. $10.00 for a female dog certified by a licensed veterinarian as either spayed or incapable of enduring spaying.

4. $35.00 for all other dogs.

Please read and follow these instructions carefully. A correctly completed application will expedite the

issuance of your business license.

Application/Processing Requirements:

Please check your application for any changes. If any changes are required, please make the necessary

corrections.

1. An animal distemper certification is required.

2. Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required.

3. A spayed certificate is required for all female dogs, which have been spayed.

4. A neutered certificate is required for all male dogs, which have been neutered.

If you cannot locate your spayed/neutered certificate, you must contact your veterinarian.

If you have more than one dog, please make sure that each dog over four (4) months old has its own license.
