Utility User Tax Instructions
1. Utility User Taxes (UUT) are assessed against customers of gas, electric, and cable television
utility providers at the rate of 7.5% of utility charges, and communications services providers at
the rate of 7.0% of communications charges.
2. The UUT is due to the City of Sacramento by the last day of the month following the reporting
period. The UUT becomes delinquent on the first day of the month following the due date.
3. Delinquent UUT is subject to a 15% penalty on the tax, plus 1% per month interest on the tax
until paid.
4. UUT Statements are to be submitted on a monthly basis, regardless of the amount due. Zero
remittance reporting periods also require that a statement be filed.
