Transaction Privilege Tax Changes and News
This publication is an informational notice included with the January 2004 Transaction Privilege Tax Return.
TOWN OF HAYDEN
Effective March 1, 2004: On November 17, 2003 the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Hayden passed ordinance
number 118. Ordinance 118 increases the Hayden Town Privilege Tax from 1% to 3%. The tax rate increase affects the
following classifications:
Advertising; Amusements; Construction Contracting; Feed at Wholesale; Job printing; Manufactured buildings;
Publishing; Rental Occupancy; Hotels; Rental of real property; Rental of tangible personal property; Restaurants
and Bars; Retail sales; Telecommunications; Transporting for hire; Utilities and Use Tax.
The increase imposed by this ordinance shall not apply to contracts entered into prior to the effective date of the
ordinance. Pre-existing contracts should be reported using CODE HY008 at a rate of 1%.
WHICH TPT-1 SHOULD I USE?
The department recently created a new monthly Transaction Privilege, Use, and Severance Return, TPT-1. You can use
the new form – for periods prior to December 2003 and if you need to amend your return. For more information, please

NEW SYSTEM BEGINS
January marks the beginning of a new DOR. Release One of BRITS, the Department’s reengineering and integrated tax

system project, took place on January 2
. The first release includes all functionality related to Transaction Privilege Tax
(TPT) and Withholding Tax. Coinciding with changes in processing will be new forms for filing TPT and Withholding
Tax. The new TPT-1 forms were mailed to all active TPT accounts in December along with the new instructions and
explanations of most of the changes to the form. The new A1-QRT for Withholding Tax is in the design stages now and
will be ready prior to the filing due date for the first quarter. The A1-WP payment coupon can still be used to make
payments.
Also included in this release is the roll out of new website for online filing: On the new site,
taxpayers and practitioners can register, file, pay and manage their accounts on the Internet. Instructions for registering to
use the site are available there as well. Until the financial conversion on January 20, historical filing and payment
information will not be available. After the financial conversion, account data will be available for returns and payments
on all accounts with outstanding liabilities as of January 2, whether the site was used to process them or not.
Corporate Income Tax and Individual Income Tax will be integrated into BRITS in later releases.
