Application Checklist and Statement of Employment
Two streams in the B-NURS Bachelor of Science (Nursing) course offer Registered Nurses who meet the entry
requirements the opportunity to seek registration in Australia and upgrade their qualifications to a Bachelor of
Science (Nursing). Both streams result in a Bachelor award. STRU-AREGN Registered Nurse Conversion Australian
Registration Nurse Stream prepares Registered Nurses without current registration in Australia for registration.
Internationally qualified Registered Nurses may seek registration within Australia after successful completion of this
stream. STRU-CNVRN Registered Nurse Conversion Non-Registration Nurse Stream advances the qualification to
Bachelor level for Diploma qualified Registered Nurses who are already registered in Australia or not seeking
Australian registration.
Course Eligibility requirements
Australian Residents seeking to upgrade their qualifications to a Bachelor of Science (Nursing)
Applicants must be currently registered or eligible for registration in Division 1 with the Nursing and Midwifery
Board of Australia and have a minimum of 3 months’ work experience as a Registered Nurse in the last 5 years in an
acute setting.
Australian Residents with lapsed RN (AHPRA) registration seeking to get back their registration
Applicants whose RN registration with AHPRA has lapsed due to a lack of currency of practice must have a minimum
of 3 months’ work experience as a Registered Nurse in the last 10 years in an acute setting.
International Applicants and Residents with overseas nursing qualifications
Course Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold a Diploma in Nursing, recognised and assessed by Curtin University as comparable
to an Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma level and be Registered as a Nurse in their home
country.
Applicants must have work experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute setting of no less than 3 months of
fulltime employment within the last five years.
If you are required to provide separate evidence English competence, the following scores are required for
this course

IELTS Academic: An overall band score of 7.0 with a minimum Band of 6.5 in Writing and Speaking,
Reading and Listening.

TOEFL iBT: An overall score of 94 with at least 20 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 24 in writing.

Occupational English Test (OET): at least grade of B obtained in Listening, Reading, Writing and
Speaking.

Students seeking registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia, after completion of the course, will be required to
demonstrate English proficiency and meet other eligibility requirements as determined by the Nursing and
