Baptism Checklist
So you have someone interested in baptism? Awesome! Below you’ll find
everything you need to make it a success.
ü Email the individual(s) the 2|42 Baptism FAQ’s doc.
ü Have a conversation with them about the meaning of baptism (read below
to describe the Commitment, Covenant & Commission).
ü Schedule the date of the baptism.
ü Who will be baptizing them? Find out who they want and coordinate if
necessary.
ü Coordinate facility/place for the baptism (Church Offices, Neighborhood
Church(A2), a lake, pool, etc). If you need help reach out to your coach.
ü What’s the person’s shirt size for their ‘Making Waves’ shirt?
ü Schedule someone from the Arts office to videotape the day of the
baptism.
ü Read through the Baptism Script (below) to make sure the baptism event
is professional, thought through and worth the time of the family and
friends that will attended

Welcome. This is an exciting day for
, so thank you for all being
here to celebrate this with them. Let’s start things off by opening in prayer.

Baptism is an important event the life of a Christ follower. In the book of Acts we
see story after story of people coming to know Jesus as their savior and then
getting baptized in obedience.
The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 6 that there is something very spiritual that
is about to happen. It says, “all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were
baptized into his death. We were therefore buried with him into death in order
that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we
too may live a new life.“
In the act of baptism we identify ourselves with the death and resurrection of
Jesus Christ. As we are immersed into the water it symbolizes that we are dying
to our old self and as we come up out of the water we are raised in new life in
Christ.
And that new life is marked by 3 things:
