Complete the following:

Select 2 books to read over the summer (one fiction and one non-fiction).

a. Book Selection Guidelines:

i. Fiction book- Please choose a Newberry Award Book or Honor Book

ii. Non-fiction book- Choose a book on a Science or History topic. (You may

choose a biography on a historical figure.)

iii. Choose an appropriate book for you! This means, your book should be

understandable, but challenging. If you are having trouble choosing a suitable

book, your local librarian can help with a book recommendation.

For your fiction book, create a “Reading Log” for each chapter. In this “Reading Log,” you

will summarize the characters, the character’s development, what happens during the

chapter, and what you think will happen next. Your “Reading Log” can be typed or hand-

written.

For your non-fiction book, compose (write) a “Book Review.” You will use the “Book Review

Form” attached to this page.

For both books, design a book cover. You must use 8 1/2x 11 copy paper. The book cover

must fill the paper. You book covers should be fully colored and neat.
