Through the use of keywords we can see what planetary properties are functioning through

which signs and which areas of life will be affected. The planet has an influence on the house and

the sign has an influence on the planet. This is both when seen in An Astrology chart or by transit in

the Sky.

Reading the Chart

When reading a chart, it is easy to become overwhelmed with the many possibilities. Here

are the most important things to look for. Everything else modifies these basic steps.

1. Identify the Lagna. (ascendant) The attributes of the Lagna are the main qualities of the person.

2. Find the Lagna Lord and the Sign and House of the Lagna lord. Lagna Lord is the planet that rules

the sign of the Lagna – The chart below has a Scorpio lagna, ruled by Mars. This house and sign

shows where and how the native will put a lot of attention in life. If this lagna lord is in a positive

house things will likely unfold smoothly, if not things will be more difficult. Many times the career and

overall life course is shown by the position and disposition of the lagna lord.

3. Find Rahu and Ketu in the chart by sign and house and Conjunction. Rahu and Ketu are the main

forces of karma, Rahu is what we are currently developing – Ketu is what we have recently learned.

* Planets in the lagna condition the outlook and orientation of the native as shown by the keywords above.

* Other planets conjoined the ruling planet will condition it based on the conjoined Planets attributes shown by the

keywords above.

* To find the indications of any are of life, the above process can be repeated. For example, to learn about the

career, find the 10

house, identify the attributes, find the Lord of that house, etc.

*Location and condition of the Sun and Moon are also very important and there are special rules and Yogas used
