HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR GPA
UC requires the submission of your overall GPA on the application for admission. You should
include all college courses taken, both transferable and non-transferable.
CSU requires the submission of your transferable GPA on the application for admission. You
should include in this calculation only courses which are transferable to CSU (courses numbered
100 and above at OCC).
STEP 1:
List courses taken for letter grades, the letter grade you received in the class, and
the number of units the course was worth. Do not list courses in which you
earned a W (withdrawal), I (incomplete), Credit/No Credit or Pass/No Pass, or
courses you are currently enrolled in or are planning to take.
STEP 2:
For each course, multiply the units by the grade points (A=4 points, B=3, C=2,
D=1, and F=0). This will give you the total grade points for each course.

STEP 3:
Add up the number of units you have taken (column A)*.
* Remember that if you have taken a course more than once, you should include
the best grade earned—you will not get credit/units for both grades.
Total Units (column A) = __10__
STEP 4:
Add the total grade points (column C)
Total Grade Points (column C) =__33__
STEP 5:
Divide your total grade points (column C) by the total units (column A) and carry
to two decimal places. This will give you your Grade Point Average (GPA).
33/10 = 3.30 GPA
